DHI Hair Transplant

The only feature that distinguishes the DHI (Direct Hair Implantation-Direct Hair Transplantation) hair transplant method from the fue hair transplant method is the transplanting of the grafts to the bald area. All procedures performed before and after hair transplantation, taking the hair grafts from the donor area, counting and preserving the grafts are the same as fue hair transplantation.

In this method, which is also known as the “Pen Technique”, which started to be applied in our country in 2015, special medical pens called “choi” or “implanter” are used for transplantation. The needle of the Choi pen is cylindrical and sharp-edged. The graft is inserted into the canal-like needle and the planned area is planted. In this way, hair transplantation can be performed without shaving the area to be transplanted. Dhi sowing method is preferred especially in thickening processes. Thanks to DHI pens, the hair grooving process and the placement of hair follicles can be performed simultaneously.

  • DHI hair transplantation is an application that can be easily performed under local anesthesia, needle-free anesthesia or sedation, just like FUE hair transplantation.
  • Hair follicles collected in a hair transplant operation performed with the Choi implanter pen are placed one by one into the pen.
  • This placement should be done very carefully and carefully. Otherwise, the roots may be damaged. Then these pens are given to the specialist to be transplanted. Each pen has a graft. After use, the graft is applied again and it is prepared for transplantation. 20-40 pens are used in one session.
  • At this point, the specialist transplants the hair follicles at an angle of 40-45 degrees, which is the most suitable angle. Apart from this angle, another important point is the correct direction, and this is to be done in accordance with the direction of the previous hair of the transplanted person.
  • The angle and direction of the hair follicles placed in the Choi needle are determined correctly and transplanted with the pushing feature of the needle.
  • The tips of these pens may be of different sizes. The factor that determines this is the person’s hair root and thickness structure.
  • Dhi hair transplantation method naturally has various advantages and disadvantages over FUE method.

Advantages of the DHI method

  • Since the incision area will be less, it minimizes the risk of bleeding as much as possible.
  • Especially in densification processes, it can be easily entered between the hairs without a haircut. In the FUE method, the hair must be cut as there will be a channel opening process in the densification method.
  • It is a method suitable for working with a high number of grafts in narrow areas.
There is no need for a haircut in the transplantation of women and men with long hair (5-6 cm in length).
  • After the hair transplant operation, faster recovery can be seen, so the patient can easily return to his daily routine in a short time.
  • This method is also called unshaven hair transplantation. However, since the hair of the men, especially the men, is short from the area to be taken, the donor area should be reset.

Disadvantages of the DHI method:

  • There are few teams that use this technique well.
  • If care is not taken, hair follicles may be damaged during the filling of implanters.
  • It is an expensive method since Choi pens are imported and the tips are disposable.
  • The person who will do the transplant should be careful and in high condition.
